Just when things seem to be running smoothly and everything is status quo...God has a way of shaking up my life.
There have been a few changes in the Rosenberg household and so far things have been going somewhat smoothly.
After the first of the year, we began back to school after our Christmas break and got back into our routine of adding Co-Op to our weekly schedule as well. Madison was in the midst of indoor soccer and Cathryn was loving her new gymnastics class.
At the beginning of February, after Madison's coach had Madison play goalie a few times, I asked him if he was going to continue to utilize her in the goal because if so, we wanted to get her some training so she could be a more dynamic goal tender. I was told during this conversation with her coach that she was no longer a good fit for the team. That he was asking that she no longer be a part of the team. What?? She is one of the best players on the team. What do you mean she isn't a good fit. Well, I may be a bit slow, but I got it. When he first came on board as coach, he and Madison had butt heads. Madison is resistant to change and moving her from a team where she liked the coach to a new coach was a bit of a transition for her and they clashed a few times. So, instead of working with her, the coach had plunked her on defense (which she doesn't like, but is very good at) and kept her there for the remainder of the season. Tony and I had had long hard talks with her about her attitude and we had started to see great improvement in her. Unfortunately her coach had not. He was so enamored with 1 player and all her buddies that she was bringing along with her, that he just wrote Madison off.
So, with that we left the club and started a search for a new one. We had knocked around the idea of just stopping soccer, but she loves it so much it seemed a shame to make her quit. So, off we went to various practices looking for a team where she felt she would be a good fit. After visiting with about 3 teams Madison decided that she liked the Sting soccer club. She has loved every minute of being on the team and is doing very well. She is playing different positions at different times which I like...she isnt being stuck somewhere. This team is really looking forward with the girls. They are not only playing 9v9 but they are also playing up a year and playing 11v11. Playing up gives them the opportunity to learn to play on a bigger field and with more players, which they will begin doing in the fall anyway. This way they will be better prepared.
They have really held their own as well. They have won a couple of games and lost a couple, but all in all they are doing extremely well.
The schedule is hectic and we have had some challenges along the way, but I think we are finally getting handle on it all.
Another glitch to our schedule is Cathryn is playing soccer as well. One of the coaches for Madison's team also coaches an '04 team unofficially for Sting. They play games once a week and have 1 practice a week. Cathryn has found her goal in life. She is one of the top scorers on her team. At a game a couple of weeks ago, the parents were saying to watch out for #5 (Cathryn) she's really good. She is so cute out there. She gets the ball and goes.
So you can see how busy our schedule is. Add to that Cathryn's gymnastics 2x a week and my calendar is full. I went so far as to color code the activities on the calendar.
We are still in the midst of Co-Op as well. We will be finished mid April so we still have a few weeks to go.
On top of all this and as if this wasn't enough, we are in the midst of moving as well. It has been a decision that we have been bouncing around for awhile now. We are trying to save money. We found an apartment that was a great price and in a great location for most of the girls activities and an easier commute for Tony.
I am finding it a bit challenging to fit everything in. We are used to having a house with lots of storage and I need to remember to be creative with storage here. I think once we get everything in the new place, then I can begin really concentrating on where to put everything.
So, just when things were going smoothly and everything was trudging along (the first of the year) then God decides to change things up a bit...so here we are. I am typing this surrounded by boxes and chaos, but its a good thing. I think once we get over the stress of the move and everything is put away, I am sure I will be able to sit back, relax, and enjoy life again. I have declared that we are offiicially on spring break. We are on our spring break from Co-Op as well as soccer and gymnastics. This all happened at the same time which helps a lot. Im not sure if we will do school next week or not. We will see how the rest of this week goes. The girls are happy with no school. They are able to go out and enjoy the nice weather we have been having as well.
